چکیده

In this investigation, the mechanical behaviour and microstructural examination of friction stir processed (FSP) Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welded aluminium dissimilar alloys has been studied. The research is proposed to enhance characteristics alloy 5052-H32 5083-H111 TIG FSP joints. Initially, welding was done join by employing a ER5356 filler rod. performed using following parameters: tungsten electrode diameter (2.4 mm), Current (170 A) shielding gas flow rate (argon) (11 l·min-1). Secondarily, carried out on different tool rotation speeds (850 1050 rpm), traverse (24 32 mm·min-1) number passes (1 3) with cylindrical pin less tool. parameters are designed Taguchi L9 array compute optimized parameters. tensile strength, microhardness % elongation determined for total nine specimens. Finally, grey relational analysis (GRA) employed find best parameter set optimal speed 950 rpm, 28 mm/min 3. most influencing factor when compared other two

Evaluation of microstructure and mechanical properties of friction stir welded copper / 316L stainless steel dissimilar metals

In the present research, friction stir welding (FSW) process was used for butt joining of pure copper plate to 316L stainless steel plate. Mechanical properties and microstructural characteristics of the joint were evaluated by microhardness and tensile tests as well as optical and scanning electron microscope (SEM). It was found that microstructure of the weld nugget (WN) has fine grains where...

Effect of friction stir welding parameters on the microstructure and mechanical properties of dissimilar AA2024-AA6061 joints

In the present study, to resolve the problems in fusion welding methods as well as to increase the strength, FSW method was used to join aluminum alloy sheets 6061 and 2024. Moreover, optimal parameters for joining of these two alloys were also taken into consideration. Various tool rotation speeds of 565, 950 and 1500 rpm were selected. For each tool rotation speed, two traverse speed variable...

The Strength of Friction Stir Welded and Friction Stir Processed Aluminium Alloys

Local strength of friction stir (FS) welds and FS processed aluminium alloys in heat treatable aluminium alloys is dominated by precipitation hardening. Strengthening due to stored dislocations is generally limited to 40MPa, and grain size strengthening is generally less than 10MPa. Local crystallographic texture can cause yield strength variation on the order of 5%. Published models for streng...
